Tuesday Blog Game - Turn 26

Thayross used his wand and healed Brother Gronk to full.

Remy stepped forward to attack the nearest monster but his thrusting spear missed the enemy. Brother Gronk attacked the monster in front of him. The monk landed a flurry of blows on the target. His fists dealt 3 damage and 4 damage which killed the creature.

Ursi moved to attack the remaining monster but the bear missed with his bite. Busby attacked the remaining ectoplasmic human with his greatclub. The blow landed and dealt 6 damage.

Thayross moved to Busby and used his wand to heal the paladin back to full. Osric moved to in front of the door and unleashed a fire jet. The flames washed over the enemy and dealt 6 damage which killed it. Magni finished casting Summon Monster spell. The summoned dire rat looked around a bit confused and then disappeared.

The party gathered their composure before continuing to explore.

Tuesday Blog Game – Turn 25

Remy tumbled along the wall and poked the spirit with his spear. The blow landed and dealt 11 damage and killed the monster. Brother Gronk stepped forward to attack the two monsters in front of him. The monk landed a flurry of blows on the target to the left. His fists dealt 4 damage and 4 damage again before killing the creature.

Ursi moved forward to attack the monster to the right of the monk but the bear missed his target. Thayross reserved with his wand at the ready in case someone became injured. Busby moved to engage the remaining enemy but missed with his greatclub.

The monster facing Gronk and Ursi took a swing at the monk. Its fist hit and dealt 4 damage. The slimy residue overwhelmed the Brother with horror causing him to become shaken.

Osric stepped into the room and cast Acid Splash at the opponent engaged with Busby. The spell landed on target and dealt 3 acid damage. Magni began casting a Summon Monster spell.

The last enemy took a swing at Busby. The blow connected and dealt 4 damage. The slimy residue sent a wave of horror over the paladin which left him shaken for the next 4 rounds.

Tuesday Blog Game – Turn 24

Remy moved ahead and looked into the room ahead. Not seeing any immediate dangers, the rogue moved to investigate the door to the southwest. Magni followed on his heels but remained in the corridor. Busby and Gronk moved into the room while Osric, Thayross and Ursi took up the rear.

As the party started to investigate the room, four ghostly presences made themselves known.

Slimy, shifting masses the shape of a humanoid, but is made out of something that appears to be some form of sticky rope or cloth. Their body lurches jerkily, struggling to maintain its horrid form as they phase through the torture equipment.

Tuesday Blog Game – Turn 23

Remy surged forward and attached the nearest skeleton with his spear. The blow landed and dealt 6 damage to the monster and destroyed it. The remaining skeleton stepped forward and attacked Remy. The undead missed the target.

Thayross delayed while Ursi moved forward to attack the enemy. The bear hit with its bite dealing 4 damage and destroyed the skeleton.

The remaining party members moved forward to join their companions and peer around the corner.

The corridor ahead opened into a larger room. A rack, stocks and an iron maiden could be seen from the party’s position due to the light of the green gems.

Tuesday Blog Game - Turn 21


The party searched the ratfolk for valuables and identified the potions. Magni took the small weapons. Osric took the gold coins to infuse the ink so he could scribe spells into his found spellbook. Thayross healed the injured using the Wand of Cure Light Wounds.

The remaining treasure is yet to be claimed. There are two potions, some alchemical items and masterwork thieves’ tools.

Where do you head next? The map shows what has been revealed with limited scouting.

Tuesday Blog Game - Turn 20

The ratfolk stepped back and fired at Buzz but missed the paladin. Buzz stepped forward and attacked with his great club. The blow landed and dealt 14 damage.

Magni attempted to intimidate the ratman by remaining standing but the enemy paid him no mind. Brother Gronk spent is time climbing out of the pit. The monk ascended 15 feet up the wall. Osric cast Acid Splash but the spell missed the target.

Thayross moved forward and used his wand to heal 5 damage from Magni. Ursi stepped forward and continued to attack the ratfolk. The bear’s bite dealt 5 damage and killed the antagonist. Remy saved his arrow as there was no more enemies in sight.

The ratman was wearing small leather armor and was armed with a small masterwork dagger and a small light crossbow with 5 normal bolts and 5 masterwork bolts. It was also carrying two potions, an acid flask, an alchemist’s fire, a tanglefoot bag, masterwork thieves’ tools and 121 gp.

What do you do next? There are exits to the north, east and south.

Tuesday Blog Game – Turn 19

The ratfolk fired his crossbow at Magni. The bolt hit and dealt 9 damage to the halfling. The ratman smiled and reloaded his weapon.

Buzz took a swing at the dire rat in front of him. His attack landed and dealt 12 damage to the giant rodent and killed it. The paladin stepped forward to engage the ratman. Magni began casting a Summon Monster I spell. Brother Gronk jumped to his feet. The rat attempted to bite him, but the attack missed. The monk kicked the giant rat and dealt 9 damage which killed it.

Osric moved forward navigating around the pits to the north and unleashed a jet of fire at the ratfolk. The ratman nimbly dodged the wizard’s supernatural ability and escaped unscathed. Thayross used the wand to cure Remy again. This time the rogue was healed 7 damage and regained consciousness. He quickly scrambled to his feet and drew his bow. Ursi attacked the dire rat in front of him. The bear missed with its bite but hit with both of its claws dealing 3 damage each and killed the rat.

Tuesday Blog Game – Turn 18


The ratfolk fired his crossbow at Brother Gronk but missed. The creature reloaded his weapon. Buzz rushed forward to engage but noticed two more concealed pits as he traveled. The paladin maneuvered around the hazards but came up just short of the enemy. The dire rat moved forward and attacked Buzz. The vicious attack managed to find a weak spot in Buzz’s armor and dealt 5 damage.

Magni moved into the room, positioning for future action. Brother Gronk hustled past the halfling but failed to notice the concealed pit in front of him. The monk scrambled for the edge as the floor gave out from under him, but Gronk was not quick enough so he fell 20 feet and took 5 damage. The waiting dire rat scaled the wall and climbed down into the pit.

Thayross used his wand to heal 3 damage from Remy. He then instructed Ursi to engage the enemy. The bear moved forward and around the newly revealed pit to engage a dire rat. Osric moved forward and fired his short bow at the dire rat engaged with Ursi. The arrow missed the target.

The dire rat attacked Ursi and hit with its bite for 1 damage.

Tuesday Blog Game – Turn 17


Another crossbow bolt streaked from the darkness and struck Remy for 8 more damage and rendered the wounded rogue unconscious.

The party rushed forward to Remy’s aid. Buzz ran forward stopping just behind the fallen rogue and determined that he was still alive. Further, the paladin was able to make out the pit trap just ahead. Just past the edge of the light he was able to see four small figures.

Mangi pressed forward after seeing Buzz head that way and hearing the pained scream of Remy. Remy’s condition stabilized. Brother Gronk moved forward next to Remy. The half-orc could make out the shapes in the darkness with his darkvision. He saw a ratfolk wearing leather armor and reloading a light crossbow. A trio of dire rats stood next to it; one to the left and two to the right.

Osric moved forward but held back at the edge of the light source created by Magni. Thayross and Ursi moved forward to aid Remy. The druid had the Wand of Cure Light Wounds in his hand.

Tuesday Blog Game - Turn 16

After the battle, Busby gathered up the best fitting pieces of armor and clothing from the zombies and re-equipped himself. Osric cast Detect Magic but did not discover any new auras. Upon seeing the sigil of Kaer Maga on the tunic, he started to drone on about facts and factoids regarding the large Varasian city.

While Magni and Brother Gronk bantered, Remy sneaked down the hall to explore ahead.
The rogue moved to the limits of the light and entered a large chamber at the end of the hallway. The rogue stopped short of an apparent pit trap ahead. While examining the trap, a crossbow bolt streaked from the darkness, catching the rogue unaware and dealt 9 damage.

Tuesday Blog Game - Turn 15

Brother Gronk unleashed a flurry of blows on the zombie. Both fists hit and dealt 3 damage and 1 damage respectively. As the monster was teetering, Remy ran it through with his spear dealing 8 damage.

Thayross used a charge from the wand of Cure Light Wounds and healed Buzz to full.

The zombies each wore a suit of chainmail, a pair of boots, a tunic bearing the sigil of the Kaer Maga town guard, a cloak and a belt. No weapons or other valuables were found.

What do you do next?

The passage continues to the east into darkness. Brother Gronk can make out that the corridor opens into a wider chamber ahead.

There was another unexplored intersection to the west within the lighted area.

Tuesday Blog Game - Turn 14


Brother Gronk unleashed a flurry of punches at the zombie. One punch connected but only did 1 damage to the undead. Remy dropped his bow and surged forward, tumbling through and behind the monsters to attack with his spear. He thrust his weapon into the one facing Brother Gronk dealing 2 damage. Busby activated smite evil on the zombie he was facing. His blow from the great club landed. The holy assisted attack penetrated trough the monster’s defenses and dealt 10 damage.

Thayross moved forward and used the wand of Cure Light Wounds to heal Brother Gronk in full. Magni cast Disrupt Undead but missed the target. Osric cast Acid Splash and attacked the zombie fighting with Buzz. The acid hit and dealt 2 damage, causing the undead to collapse.

The remaining zombie took a swing at Brother Gronk but it missed the half-orc.

Tuesday Blog Game - Turn 13

Brother Gronk ran up and gave a sturdy kick to the zombie on the left. The blow landed with a thud but only dealt 5 damage to the unfeeling flesh. Remy fired an arrow at the next zombie but missed his target. Buzz moved up and swung at the same enemy. He too missed the monster, striking a blow against its armor.

Thayross and Ursi waited for an opportunity to join the melee while Magni targeted one of the zombies with a Disrupt Undead spell. The attack missed. Osric tried his luck with an arrow but missed as well.

The first zombie swung at Brother Gronk. It hit and dealt 8 damage to the half-orc. The second swung at Busby. It to hit and dealt 6 damage with its meaty fist.

Tuesday Blog Game - Turn 12

Magni cast Light on one of his stones and threw it further down the hallway. The additional light illuminated more of the hallway but the room beyond remained dark. Osric cast Detect Magic and stated to concentrate.

Busby and Brother Gronk stated forward. Remy, Thayross and Ursi at their heels. Gronk, turned to the paladin, "Probably zombies waiting to wake up and attack us. Maybe they got more gear though." As the light shown fully upon them, the bodies stood to face the approaching adventurers.

Though weaponless, the zombies were dressed in armor and the livery of the town guard of Kaer Maga.

Once the party had fully rested, healed and identified the found magical treasures, they headed back toward the darkened passage to the southeast.

After peering around the corner and traveling a short distance, Busby was able to make out something on the floor ahead. Brother Gronk, with better eyes for seeing in the dark, was able to make out that the something was two bodies. He further saw that the corridor opened into a larger chamber ahead.

Tuesday Blog Game - Turn 10


The party was able to make camp in the prison area. The bones of the skeletons were spread along the approaching hallway and the table was up-ended to block the entrance to the room.

Trying the keys from the key ring on the doors to the east proved successful. After a few tries, both doors were unlocked using the keys.

The northern-most door contained a couple of chests and shelves. The shelves contained a box with 16 squat candles, a stack of unused parchment, a sealed pot of ink and 6 quills. The chests contained mostly moldy and disintegrating clothing. A sturdy cord made of what appears to be cotton, a well-made leather vest bearing numerous shiny metal buttons sealing a number of bulging pockets and a sturdy leather pouch are located near the bottom of one chest. A pair of boots and a wand are found in the other chest among former pieces of clothing.

The southern-most door contained the remnants of an armory. The room is mostly empty but two large wooden shields, a light crossbow, two quivers with 20 bolts each, a flail, a quarterstaff and two sets of manacles hang from pegs on the wall.

Tuesday Blog Game – Turn 9


Remy fired his last rock at the skeletal archer to the right. The projectile struck and destroyed the monster.

The nearest skeleton stepped out of its cell and attacked Brother Gronk with its claws. Both bony appendages hit dealing 3 and 6 damage respectively. The monk fell to the floor with a shout of pain.

Osric stepped forward and cast Acid Splash at the remaining archer. The spell hit the skeleton, dissolving bones and killed it. Realizing that he cannot heal Broth Gronk, Magni stepped forward and cast Disrupt Undead targeting the skeleton to the far left. The spell hit for 4 damage and caused the monster to collapse into a pile of bones. Thayross stepped forward to have a better view of the battle. The druid commanded his companion to continue attacking the skeleton. Ursi, the bear, attacked the monster next to it. Its bite dealt 4 damage and vanquished the skeleton.

The remaining undead left its cell, moved and attacked Busby. A swipe from the monster’s claw dealt 3 damage. The paladin returned the attack and crushed the monster with his great club. The blow landed and dealt 11 damage sending bones flying.

Brother Gronk remained unconscious, near death, but had stabilized and stopped bleeding. Remy recovered his two fired stones.

Two spears and two short bows lay on the floor among the bones. Two quivers with 17 and 18 arrows lay on the tabletop. A set of keys on a ring, two pewter mugs and a wayfinder sit atop stacks of papers, weighing them down. A candelabra with a complement of half burned candles and a cup with 3 tindertwigs are situated in the middle of the table. A well made dagger protruded from the table, tacking down a piece of parchment.

The two eastern-most doors remain closed.

Remy had fashioned a makeshift sling and located and recovered 2 throwable stones.
Thayross has fashioned a makeshift staff/club from pieces of barrel.
