PFS and Pathfinder Unchained

Check out the announcement regarding PFS and Pathfinder Unchained: http://paizo.com/paizo/blog/v5748dyo5lheb?Society-Unchained

The Summary:

  • New barbarian, monk and rogue can be played along side CRB versions of the same class.
  • New summoner is the new PFS legal version of the class. If you have a character which is a summoner and is above 2nd level, it is grandfathered and you may continue to play it as is.
  • If you like, you may choose to rebuild any character that has levels in any of the 4 character classes to the new unchained versions for free as long as you do so by the next time you play it.
I have my electronic copy of the book if you would like to take a look tomorrow. I should have my hard cover book within the next few days (tracking has it in Ohio as of yesterday). I will certainly have it by next week.

Next Week - #2-01 - Before the Dawn - Part I: The Bloodcove Disguise

Bruce will be running #2-01 - Before the Dawn - Part I: The Bloodcove Disguise. It is a tier 1-7 scenario. We have previously agreed that we will be playing the subtier 3-4.

The list below is what everyone has agreed to play:

Keith - cleric (3)
David - arcanist (4)
Kelly - rogue (4)
Alan - paladin (4)
Randy - skald (3)
Dave - barbarian (1)/cleric (1)/fighter (1)

The following week we can either play #2-02 - Before the Dawn - Part II: Rescue at Azlant Ridge, another tier 1-7, or Dave can run #6-12 - Scions of the Sky Key, Part 1: On Sharrowsmith's Trail, a tier 1-5 scenario.

For #2-02 - Before the Dawn - Part II: Rescue at Azlant Ridge it seems likely that we can all play the same characters without having to change subtier.

For #6-12 - Scions of the Sky Key, Part 1: On Sharrowsmith's Trail, we could play the same characters in sub-tier 4-5 (David is the only one that could not play all 3 parts with the same character) or we could switch it up. Looks like we could easily play a low-tier (1-2) with the characters that folks have available. Dave can tell us if he would suggest one sub-tier over another.

New PFS Faction Journal Cards Are Now Available

Check it out: http://paizo.com/paizo/blog/v5748dyo5lhcl?Faction-Journal-Cards

I have printed some and will have them with me tomorrow.

My first impression is that they are pretty cool. I think that they will also help players get into the faction mindset by giving more concrete goals to strive toward.

Next Several Weeks

We will be continuing #5-17 - Fate of the Fiend. It is possible that we will finish this but there is also a possibility that it might splash over into the following week. If that happens, I will plan to run the last Silverhex Chronicles quest to fill the time on 4/21.

If we finish up next week, Bruce plans to start #2-01 - Before the Dawn - Part I: The Bloodcove Disguise starting on 4/21. This is a tier 1-7 adventure. It has 3 sub-tiers; 1-2, 3-4 and 6-7. He also plans to run #2-02 - Before the Dawn - Part II: Rescue at Azlant Ridge. This too is a tier 1-7. He will run this either directly after or in some sort of tag team fashion with Dave who is planning to run #6-12 - Scions of the Sky Key, Part 1: On Sharrowsmith's Trail, #6-14 - Scions of the Sky Key, Part 2: Kaava Quarry and #6-16 - Scions of the Sky Key, Part 3: The Golden Guardian. All of these are tier 1-5 scenarios. That means sub-tiers 1-2 and 4-5.

Both sets of adventures are multi-part stories. They do not require that the same characters play through then but you may want to for roleplaying purposes. It just requires a bit of planning. Both series are of a level range that you could play the same character through all 5 scenarios. We should decide which characters we would like to play before we start. I have played the Before the Dawn series before and will be using a GM Star replays to allow me to play again.

Keith has the following available:

Tier 1-2: fighter (2), swashbuckler (1), warpriest (2), spiritualist (1), sorcerer (1)
Tier 3-4: cleric (3)
Tier 4-5: ranger (5), summoner (5)
Tier 6-7: ranger (5), summoner (5), wizard (6)

David has the following available:

Tier 1-2: blood rager (1), medium (1) and two undefined characters (1)
Tier 3-4: shaman (4), arcanist (4)
Tier 4-5: shaman (4), arcanist (4), druid (5)
Tier 6-7: oracle (6), summoner (7)

Kelly has the following available:

Tier 1-2: summoner (2), barbarian (2)
Tier 3-4: monk (4), fighter (1)/bard (3), cleric (4), rogue (4)
Tier 4-5: monk (4), fighter (1)/bard (3), cleric (4), rogue (4)
Tier 6-7: barbarian (1)/sorcerer (5)

Alan has the following available:

Tier 1-2: barbarian (1), hunter (1), magus (2)
Tier 3-4: paladin (4)
Tier 4-5: paladin (4), ranger (3)/rogue (2)
Tier 6-7: summoner (6)

Randy has the following available:

Tier 1-2: new guy (1) or pregen (1)
Tier 3-4: skald (3), witch (4)
Tier 4-5: witch (4)
Tier 6-7: pregen (7)

Dave has the following available:

Tier 1-2: skald (1), kineticist (2)
Tier 3-4: cleric (3), barbarian (1)/cleric (1)/fighter(1), arcanist (4)
Tier 4-5: arcanist (4), sorcerer (5)
Tier 6-7: ranger (2)/fighter (4)

Bruce has the following available:

Tier 1-2: monk (1), barbarian (1), sorcerer (1), brawler (1), hunter (1), arcanist (1), druid (1), spiritualist (1), alchemist (2)
Tier 3-4: fighter (3), cleric (2)/barbarian (1), barbarian (2)/oracle (1)
Tier 4-5: summoner (5)

Personally, I am leaning toward playing my ranger (5) for Bruce's sessions and my cleric (3) for Dave's sessions. My final decision will be based upon what the rest of you pick.

Next Week: Fate of the Fiend #5-17

Next week I will be running Fate of the Fiend #5-17. This is another tier 7-11.
