Snarlshield

Just because it came up last night.

Shield: Snarlshield, steel
Cost: 50 gp
Shield Bonus: +2
Maximum Dex Bonus: —
Armor Check Penalty: –3
Arcane Spell Failure Chance: 15%
Speed 30 ft.: —
Speed 20 ft.: —
Weight: 20 lbs.

This heavy shield features a dozen wooden or metal rods on its surface. You may use the shield as a weapon with the disarm quality.

It does not give a +3 Shield Bonus to AC.

Next Week

Since we did not finish this week and Alan will not be there next week, we will have to play something else and finish the Seagang Expedition the following week. Bruce is planning to run #6-06 Hall of the Flesh Eaters. This is also a tier 1-5 scenario.

I have played this scenario before at low-tier so I will not be as helpful as I normally may be so as not to spoil the adventure for the rest of you.

I have the following characters available:

 High Sub-tier:

 Ranger (5) and Summoner (5)

 Low Sub-tier:

Fighter (2), Spiritualist (1) and Sorcerer (1)

Dave has the following available:

High Sub-tier:

Sorcerer (5), Cleric (3) and Arcanist (3)

Low Sub-tier:

Cleric (3), Arcanist (3), Barbarian (1)/Cleric (1) and Skald (1)

Randy has the following available:

 High Sub-tier:

None. Any 4th level pregen is available.

 Low Sub-tier:

 Skald (2)

 David has the following available:

 High Sub-tier:

 Druid (5) and Shaman (3)

 Low Sub-tier:

Shaman (3), Medium (1) and two characters that I do not think have been created yet (Both were pregen credits)

Kelly has the following available:

High Sub-tier:

Monk (4), Fighter (1)/Bard (3) and Rogue (4)

Low Sub-tier:

Summoner (2) and Barbarian (2)

It looks likely that we will play low-sub-tier unless Randy wants to play a pregen. Assuming we play low, I would suggest that I play my fighter, Dave plays his cleric, Randy plays his skald, David plays his shaman and Kelly plays his barbarian.
I excluded the characters being played in the Silverhex Chronicles quests from the lists of available characters. Technically those characters are also available but they would stop earning rewards for additional quests played. I have also excluded characters tied up in the PBB game and the Seagang Expedition.

Interest in Core PFS

Do we as a group have any interest in starting some Core PFS characters? This would open up a ton of play/replay of scenarios and modules.

Even if we do not plan to play a ton, it might be a good idea to develop a character or two for Core PFS. Characters can always start as Core and switch to regular PFS. Playing Core would open 51 tier tier 1-5, 20 tier 1-7 and 25 tier 3-7 scenarios for replay.

Without using GM stars to replay, we currently have 7 tier 1-5 (3 available now and 4 coming soon), 0 tier 1-7 and 2 tier 3-7 (1 available now and 1 coming soon) available in regular PFS.

With GM Star replay we have an additional 2 tier 1-5, 2 tier 1-7 and 2 tier 3-7 scenarios available.

Gen Con PFS

It looks like the PFS scenarios offered at Gen Con will be somewhat limited. There will be several season 6 and three season 7 scenarios.

Check out http://paizo.com/paizo/blog/v5748dyo5lh6c?Gen-Con-2015-News-and-Official-Call-for#18 for more details:

The ones that have me interested are:

All Tiers and Specials
  • A Tier 1-11 multi-table interactive Special "Siege of Serpents" on Thursday night
  • A second Tier 1-11 multi-table interactive Special in which the Society reassembles and activates the Sky Key (Friday night)
  • A bonus Special "True Dragons of Absalom," in which the players portray unlikely allies of the Pathfinder Society using unique pregenerated kobold characters (Saturday night)
  • The "Serpents Rise" Special in which the PCs are agents of the Aspis Consortium bent on sabotaging the Pathfinder Society. Special pregenerated characters are provided for this event on Sunday morning.
I will not be able to play either of the Thursday or Friday specials as I have HEX games planned. I expect that I will have an opportunity to play them at U-Con or another venue like I did this year. I am going to try to play the Saturday and Sunday specials. If we cannot get in on it, I will get access to run Serpents Rise as it will have an early release for 4+ star GMs and VOs.

As for the rest, I was expecting that we would play most of the low-tier and early season 6 stuff.

Next Tuesday

Dave plans to run #6-08 Seagang Expedition next Tuesday. It is tier 1-5 scenario.

We are not expecting Kelly. David will be out of town but sounds likely to be available to Skype if we can manage.

I have the following characters available:

High Sub-tier:
Ranger (5), Summoner (5) and Cleric (3)

Low Sub-tier:
Cleric (3), Fighter (2), Warpriest (2), Spiritualist (1) and Sorcerer (1)

Bruce has the following available:

High Sub-tier:
Summoner (4), Fighter (3), Cleric (2)/Barbarian (1) and Barbarian (2)/Oracle (1)

Low Sub-tier:

Fighter (3), Cleric (2)/Barbarian (1), Barbarian (2)/Oracle (1), Alchemist (2), Monk (1), Sorcerer (1), Brawler (1), Hunter (1), Arcanist (1), Druid (1) and Spiritualist (1)

Alan has the following available:

High Sub-tier:
Ranger (2)/Rogue (2) and Paladin (4)

Low Sub-tier:
Summoner (1), Barbarian (1) and Hunter (1)

Randy has the following available:

High Sub-tier:
Witch (3)

Low Sub-tier:
Witch (3) and Skald (2)

David has the following available:

High Sub-tier:
Druid (5), Arcanist (4) and Shaman (3)

Low Sub-tier:
Shaman (3), Medium (1) and two characters that I do not think have been created yet (Both were pregen credits)

I excluded the characters being played in the Silverhex Chronicles quests from the lists of available characters. Technically those characters are also available but they would stop earning rewards for additional quests played.

As Bruce an I have a healthy stable of characters to work from, the choice of what sub-tier we play really comes down to Randy and Alan.

If we play low sub-tier, David may want to flesh in one of those undefined characters.

Next Two Weeks

For the start, Bruce will finish running #3-08 Among the Gods next week. I expect that this will take the first 90 minutes or so of the session.

What do we want to do with the remaining time? Should I plan to run a Silverhex Chronicles quest or two? Do we want to start something else which we will complete the following week?

It looks like David will be with us for the next two weeks before having to travel for work training for three weeks. After that, his shift may change and he might not be available for Tuesday gaming for an indefinite time.
