Tuesday Blog Game – Turn 9

Remy fired his last rock at the skeletal archer to the right. The projectile struck and destroyed the monster.

The nearest skeleton stepped out of its cell and attacked Brother Gronk with its claws. Both bony appendages hit dealing 3 and 6 damage respectively. The monk fell to the floor with a shout of pain.

Osric stepped forward and cast Acid Splash at the remaining archer. The spell hit the skeleton, dissolving bones and killed it. Realizing that he cannot heal Broth Gronk, Magni stepped forward and cast Disrupt Undead targeting the skeleton to the far left. The spell hit for 4 damage and caused the monster to collapse into a pile of bones. Thayross stepped forward to have a better view of the battle. The druid commanded his companion to continue attacking the skeleton. Ursi, the bear, attacked the monster next to it. Its bite dealt 4 damage and vanquished the skeleton.

The remaining undead left its cell, moved and attacked Busby. A swipe from the monster’s claw dealt 3 damage. The paladin returned the attack and crushed the monster with his great club. The blow landed and dealt 11 damage sending bones flying.

Brother Gronk remained unconscious, near death, but had stabilized and stopped bleeding. Remy recovered his two fired stones.

Two spears and two short bows lay on the floor among the bones. Two quivers with 17 and 18 arrows lay on the tabletop. A set of keys on a ring, two pewter mugs and a wayfinder sit atop stacks of papers, weighing them down. A candelabra with a complement of half burned candles and a cup with 3 tindertwigs are situated in the middle of the table. A well made dagger protruded from the table, tacking down a piece of parchment.

The two eastern-most doors remain closed.

What do you do next?

    1. Mostly the paperwork is regarding the intake and release of prisoners, including information like warrants, bounties and personal effects. These are all over 100 years old based upon the dates.

The parchment under the dagger is a duty roster. 12 names appear on the list.

    2. do any of our names appear in the paperwork?

    3. No. The earliest date on the paperwork is from 100 years ago.

    4. A hundred years ago? So we have a memory of the approximate date?

    5. Yes. It is just your immediate past that is missing. You do not remember the circumstances leading up to or how specifically you managed to come to this place.

  2. Pick up a bow, quiver, and arrows (18)

    1. Then cast detect magic.
      General: around the room
Specific: check the dagger for magic

    2. The wayfinder and the two green gens radiate magical auras. The dagger appears to be just finely made. (It is masterwork.)

  3. Scavenge the dead skeletons for any weapons I can find. Priority a bow and accessories.

    1. You grab the other short bow and quiver with 17 arrows. There is also an unclaimed spear if you want it.

  4. Ask people: "Are we going to rest here or go back to where we started? Can Gronk be moved?" And look for materials to make a stretcher.

    1. You can disassemble the table and use some planks or you could just carry him. It is not very far back the way you came.

    2. I say: "we can use the table to transport Brother Gronk." and start struggling to dissemble table to go through door in hopes that strong person will assist.

  5. I grab a spear, the keys and the wayfinder.

I annpunce to the group' "Grab thise mugs and go get a drink."

    1. You retrieve a spear and take the key ring and wayfinder.

  6. This room looks like it's as defendable as the other room. Why don't we rest here and not try to move our injured comrade?

    1. I check to see if the doors at the far end of the room are locked

      Delete
    2. Both doors appear to be locked but the keys from the table might have a cure for that.

      Delete
    3. If the doors are locked we should be able to hear if someone is trying to open them (assuming that they have keys). I say we rest here.

  7. Unless we want to chance another encounter and go through those doors (assuming our keys work) and see if we can lock ourselves in hopefully a lockable room.
It may have useful items there as well.

  8. I don't care if it's here or the room with water, but we need to rest if we are out of healing. We won't last long without Brother Gronk in fighting shape.

  9. Would it be trap/alarm in e9 and f9? Something to warn us if someone/thing comes down the hall?

    1. words, are there missing some?

    2. We could put a bunch of bones in that area to make sound if something comes that way.

    3. @Alan - Are you are asking if you could setup some sort of trap/alarm in squares E9 and F9? No one has any skill in Craft (traps).

You might be able to create something that would make noise or require effort to get past. Its effectiveness would depend on your plan and circumstances.

      Delete
    4. "something that would make noise" I'd suggest getting all of the bones and other broken bits to cover the floor of as much of the 1st 4 squares as can be covered with the goal of making it impossible to walk through without making noise.

      Delete
    5. We can probably also use the table to make it at least hindering terrain there

  10. "So we are resting here." I clean off a bit of floor and rest there, and try to think if there are enough scraps of fabric in the other room to make Gronk warm. "he's going to want water when he gets up." I listen at the South east door, specifically for skeleton noises.

    1. There is no sound from either door to the east.

  11. Is the plan to fortify your position and rest?

Does someone plan to investigate the doors to the east before then?

  12. Does anyone have any skill in healing?
We can try to do first aid while waiting for more healing spells.

    1. Thayross has the best roll with a +4. Busby is the next best with +2.

      Delete
    2. Busby's roll confirms that Brother Gronk is stable and is no longer in danger of bleeding out.

The DC for Treat Deadly Wounds is 20. This requires 2 uses of a healer's kit. There is a -2 penalty for each use of a healer's kit that you lack. Success would heal HP=to wounded character's HD. A DC 25 is needed to heal HP=to wounded character's HD plus healer's Wisdom Mod.

  13. Is anyone taking the masterwork dagger, the candelabra and the tinder twigs? If so, who?

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. I can cast light so I don't need candles. I'm not a hand to hand fighter. Buzz can have the dagger, and gronk looks like he's good with fire, so he can have the tinder twigs when he gets up. The candelabra is fine where it is. A safe sleeping place.

  14. Fire is cool
    I'll take the tindertwigs
