Core Characters, or The Four Basic Monster Food Groups

1. Stand Up Fighter. Well filled out by: Fighter, Paladin, Barbarian. NOT filled out well by Bards, Rangers, or bow monkeys. We're talking Power Attack + Cleave at first level.

2. Good-Aligned Cleric. Once you get past the title there's a lot of flexibility. Warpriest, Nature Girl, Power Buffer, whatever. They all work so long as you can spontaneous heal. Can also be filled out by a Favored Soul. DO NOT accept Druids or Bards in this role.

3. Trap Negator. Someone that can find and remove traps. Picking pockets, social skills, appraise, and sneaking are all a matter of personal preference. MUST be a Rogue. No one else will do.

4. Arcane Caster. Sorcerer or Wizard. Of the Basic Four, this position has the most flexibility. Buffer, Artillery, Seer, Sage, Illusionist, etc. All can be just as effective as the others.

  1. OK
Scratch the sneaky. I would rather not play a trap oriented thief. So hacky or flashy for me.

  2. What level are we talking about, and have you decided if we are making new guys up ?

  3. Keith said he's not sure "all or most of the characters from the Cliffport game" will do. Randy has already decided not to play his assassin but the jury is still out on Ned.

Sounds like Randy is angling for Stand Up Fighter or Arcane Caster. I dont mind playing any of the 4 if I cant play Ned.

  4. I'm guessing Keith doensn't want a Half-Lizardman/half-Gnome cross class Samurai/psionic with a penchant for second guessing every other characters actions, loudly and constantly weather they request it or not, who has non-class skills in one-man-band, and wears the fortified one-man-band instrument as very noisy armor.

  5. Only because of the psionics. The rest is prolly ok.

  6. If Randy picks fighter, I'm so going to go with you guys. Don't forget I came from the Keithverse.

  7. I have chosen.
I will play the noble Ketai, a lawful good Kensai (1/lvl fighter 5/lvls Samuai and 3/lvls Kensai).

Ketai is devoted swordsman who will swear absolute fealty to any member of the group who is LG otherwise he will have to make a vow to an ideal and, since I would rather avoid any further disagreements with Keith or anyone else, I would prefer not to do this.

Hey, Jennifred you wouldn't happen to be LG would you?

  9. I redid Ketai Kyuzo
He is still a Kensai but he breaks down a bit differently. Samurai 5 Kensai 4. It turned out to be a better build. I am emailing you workups on Kyuzo and Tessa's rogue as well as an outline of Darren's Dwarven Ranger.
