I will be awarding XP next week but I am unsure as to how much I will award.
That said, I am curious where are folks looking to spend their experience? If you have any ideas, please share.
Will what you plan depend on the amount awarded? i.e. if you only got 5 or 6 points would you increase a skill or buy specializations rather than save up for the next 15 point expense like a new talent, power or resource?
If you have any ideas, please share. I want to see where you are planning to take your characters. I also want to make sure that I am prepared to help you purchase what you need. (Still not ready to turn over documents to the masses but I am getting closer all the time.)
After several weeks of playing, I am also interested in feedback on how things are going so far from the players' perspective. I know that there may be some story and pacing issues which has more to do with me knocking off the rust and getting to know the characters and the world they live in. I will take feedback about those topics but I am more interested in other items.
How do you like your characters? Do they seem to fill you concept as starting characters? I am trying to determine if 75 XP is enough to make a starting character feel super but not necessarily god-like.
Does anyone seem to be over powered? What makes you think so?
Does anyone seem to be under powered? What makes you think so. What do you feel is missing?
How are the the advanced powers (Magical Aptitude, Super Science, Power Reserve) working? Are they easy enough to use and understand?
For those of you using them, how do you like the characters sheets I supplied with the stat block and the detailed power descriptions? Would the stat box only be enough for you if you had access to a book listing your talents, powers, rituals, etc.? Is there anything else the sheet should include? i.e. Active Defense, Passive Defense, Armor, Sanity and Shock.
I am also open to other feedback. If you have suggestions or comments of specific skills, powers, rituals, etc., please feel free to let me know.

ReplyDeleteI do not know what I will send my points on.
it depends how many I get.
I see myself lacking in the whole skill area. I discarded many skills to get to the state I'm at.
I also could use more things in my multipool group.
I would like to raise some powers in the multipool to 2nd tier.
I would like to go another level (or two) in the size dept, it would be nice to go to -2 size. is there a way size could be adjusted in the pool?
I don't know if I am lacking in these areas because the multipool costs so much.
I would like to get some of my base stats up to everyone else's level, but don't think that will ever happen. my stats are all 2 or 3, there is no way I can get some up to 5(let alone 6,7,8 or 9). but that's what I get for not being a hero that has 1 important stat.
I'm leaning towards skills.
ReplyDeleteI would also like to get a normal pair of handcuffs and a small flashlight for my gun belt.
We've had need of light a few times and he's seen old cop shows (mid to late 20th century ) with cops using them.
That should be no problem.
Delete75 points seems to work.
ReplyDeleteWe all (except maybe Dave ) have strengths and weakness.
Dan ... Neat power / glass jaw
Bruce ... Very versatile and very useful in non combat situations (not bad in combat) can understand Dog / lower stats and skills
David ... Good combat and physical stats / lacking in skills
Different Strengths and weakness make for a team

DeleteWhat does that mean? I don't have a strength or a weakness??
DeletePrimary Goal: Willpower or some kind of will defense. Not alot but a small bump would be good.
ReplyDeleteSecondary Goals:
Medicine skill or Intimidation.
Also lacking in skills. Will get academic magic (3) and medicine (3) can make a new device to stop mind control. and using the light(s) i bought at the supply. radios? work toward getting lab running better. I have yet to test the various things i have collected. Been busy building the sleeping chamber and the dog station. do we need an mri machine? - can probabally just go to the zoo when needed. Should fix red robot some more.
ReplyDeleteNormal equipment can be purchased with money.
DeleteEven purchasing weapons is possible. (Dan might have issues as his character is AWOL and may be wanted by the authorities but he can always pick up a weapon from an enemy or someone could buy him one.)
LOL who wants to buy Captain Manslaughter a high capacity rifle?
DeleteI have an immediate need for skills, then a long term need for skills, regardless of the amount of xp we get. I had several I had to leave off in character creation. I guess it explains why I can't catch Callista if I've only got one rank in Investigation.
ReplyDeleteI feel I'm quite super enough. I've still got a final 2 rituals I haven't decided on.
One thing I have to look up all the time is how each ritual works. It might be handy to have them in some kind of spreadsheet or database format. Between the ones I made, the ones you sent, and the ones in the books it gets confusing.
Lots of us might seem overpowered, from a Grass Greener point of view. Al has a ridiculous attack but it caused him to get KO'd for 2 rounds last game. I have a vast array of Swiss Army knife powers but I have to choose carefully which one to use.
Kelly seems underpowered to me, but that may just be a Blunt Tool effect.
I have a complete list of all the ritual so far (from existing books and the ones we made). They are listed alphabetically by tradition and rank. I thought I supplied that document to you.
DeleteAre you looking for something besides that? I did not include on your character sheet yet as you have not decided on what the final ritual list is going to be. Do you plan to pick the last two rituals or are you leaving them blank for future expansion. (Please supply the list you have chosen so far.)
