This is the new Horror adventure path that Bruce plans to run.
I highly recommend that you all read this.
ReplyDeleteThis players guide has some of the best trait abilities I've seen in a Players guide.
You should start building your characters as soon as possible (20 points for stats, per page 16, table 1-1).

We should be able to finish the scenario I started the other night next week.
I hope to have read enough to start the new horror campaign the following week.
Any questions?
Bruce - If you run short, I can plan to run one of the Quests to fill out the session. (Reminder to all, these are played with level 1 pregens). We have 5 left from Season 7 and there are 6 more now for Season 8.
DeleteStarting season 8, you no longer have to play pregens for Quests.
DeleteOk. I must have missed that.
DeleteAren't we going to finish the other adventure paths that we started (winters rein and dragons demand) before starting another one?
ReplyDeleteDragons Demand is not an adventure path.
DeleteI am hoping that Dave (Winters Reign) and I (Strange Aeons) will be able to switch back and forth for a while, giving Keith a break on Tuesdays. Keith (Legacy of Fire) was running his on Sundays.
As far as "finishing" an adventure path, we are 5+ years into Runelords, and several years into Legacy of Fire.
These take a lot of time to "finish", the 1st of 6 books just came out for SA, Keith just gave Dave the 2nd book (of 6) of Winter's Reign on Tuesday.
So, no, I don't think we are finishing any AP's soon.
Besides, switching it up every couple weeks keeps it fresh.
There are two more sections of The Dragon's Demand. These will take approximately 3 weeks each. We can add it to the rotation to get it finished up. I also have a couple of PFS scenarios that I really would like to run which both revisit previous adventure locations. Both are tier 3-7.
Delete.. plus i want to run more PFS scenarios, i'm close to that 3rd star..
DeleteIm leaning towards empiricist Investigator (skill monkey). Of course the final choice depends on what random shit the rest of the monkeys barf up to play.
ReplyDeleteYou sir, should play what you want to play, the people that wait till the last minute can fill in the missing food groups.
DeleteOf which i suggest someone who can heal and someone who can open locks. i'm only on page 20, but those look like useful party positions.
i hope everyone can/will READ this blog stuff, even if they don't respond to it.
i think planning ahead for this AP is wise, and coming up with random-character-class at the start will not bode well. although you've managed to get by in the past.
this looks to be a fun adventure. it is different, as witnessed by the players guide (link to free booklet above). Randy should especially like it.
Still pondering what I will play. There are a shit-ton of suggested archetypes in the player's guide.

Dammit, now I'm waffling. There's a LOT I've never played before.
DeleteAre you using all the new Horror rules? Corruption, Fleshwarp, Expanded Fear, Sanity? They are available to tick in HL.
ReplyDeleteI was planning on it.
DeleteI was planning on it.
DeleteWhat races are allowed? How do we work HP?
ReplyDeletehalf or average HP, like PFS.
DeleteStill max HP at first level right?
Deletethat is the rule in regular and pfs.
DeleteStandard CRB races or are others allowed?
DeleteOn behalf of Randy:
ReplyDeleteHi. I am thinking of playing a witch or a skald. I could be convinced to play a rogue or druid if that would be more helpful.
We should make him play a cavalier.
Deletedid you read where they discouraged mounted classes, good, thought so.
Deletethat's why he'd play one, right.
although you think he'd get tired of witches & skalds.
Skald is his favorite.
DeleteBecause...ACTING !!!
DeleteKeith, Randy & Dave are considering their characters classes for Strange Aeons, has anyone else?
ReplyDelete(replies welcome)
For further help: I am leaning towards Empiricist Investigator (trapfinding skillmonkey - yes I'll have ridiculous skill rolls, get over it)
DeleteRandy is leaning towards a cavalier archetype that can summon an ectoplasmic mount.
If not, he'll prolly go with the hair-whip witch.
an ectoplasmic mount, for an indoor, haunted adventure, this will be fun. it'll almost make up for the fact that one person will make every roll i ask for.
DeleteHey, you could ask for stuff I havent put points in yet. At first level...
DeleteAlso, Steve's divine tracker urban ranger is looking good.
ReplyDeleteOn a related note, I found a couple of cool alternate race traits for dwarves: Deep Warrior and Sense Aberration. One gives a bonus to hit and AC vs aberrations and the other gives a perception bonus to Dungeoneering and Perception rolls vs aberrations.
