If we finish up next week, Bruce plans to start #2-01 - Before the Dawn - Part I: The Bloodcove Disguise starting on 4/21. This is a tier 1-7 adventure. It has 3 sub-tiers; 1-2, 3-4 and 6-7. He also plans to run #2-02 - Before the Dawn - Part II: Rescue at Azlant Ridge. This too is a tier 1-7. He will run this either directly after or in some sort of tag team fashion with Dave who is planning to run #6-12 - Scions of the Sky Key, Part 1: On Sharrowsmith's Trail, #6-14 - Scions of the Sky Key, Part 2: Kaava Quarry and #6-16 - Scions of the Sky Key, Part 3: The Golden Guardian. All of these are tier 1-5 scenarios. That means sub-tiers 1-2 and 4-5.
Both sets of adventures are multi-part stories. They do not require that the same characters play through then but you may want to for roleplaying purposes. It just requires a bit of planning. Both series are of a level range that you could play the same character through all 5 scenarios. We should decide which characters we would like to play before we start. I have played the Before the Dawn series before and will be using a GM Star replays to allow me to play again.

Personally, I am leaning toward playing my ranger (5) for Bruce's sessions and my cleric (3) for Dave's sessions. My final decision will be based upon what the rest of you pick.
I would like to know ahead of time what level you all will be playing for mine. Please post here and let me know.
ReplyDeleteIf Keith plays his ranger I will play my sorcerer 6, Ebo
ReplyDeleteI show Ebo as being 5th. Did I miss a scenario? I have the following listed for him:
Delete31 Sniper in the Deep
43 The Pallid Plague
2-15 Shades of Ice - Part I: Written in Blood
2-25 You Only Die Twice
5-11 Library of the Lion
5-12 Destiny of the Sands, Part 1: A Bitter Bargain
5-15 Destiny of the Sands, Part 2: Race to Seeker's Folly
5-16 Destiny of the Sands, Part 3: Sanctum of the Sages
5-24 Assault on the Wound
5-99 The Paths We Choose
Module Murder's Mark
Module Risen from the Sands
Typo on my part. Ebo is 5.2
DeleteI'll go summoner (6) for Bruce's if Keith/Dave are 5/6
ReplyDeleteUnsure about Dave's sessions.
Then unless they reply here in the blog, David will play his shaman and Randy will play his witch
ReplyDeleteIf Dave's assumptions for David and Randy are correct and Kelly plays one of his 4th or his 6th level character, that will place the APL at 5. For a season 2 scenario, the follow applies:
ReplyDeleteFor scenarios written in Seasons 0 to 3, when the APL is in between subtiers, a party of six or seven characters must play the higher subtier.
This means that the scenario will be a little more dangerous but the scenario is written with an assumption of 4 players so in theory that should wash out.
My ranger will also level to 6th after the first scenario.
ReplyDeleteI'm saving my shaman for the rest of the goblin adventures he's been on. Looks like we need a healer, so I will play my oracle
ReplyDeleteDo you mean Emerald Spire? Only the 1st level was goblins. Level 2 was spiders, traps and undead. The next level is tier 2-4.
DeleteRegardless, that will place us in the high sub-tier (6-7) for sure.
Yes, that's the one I meant
ReplyDeleteWe're looking at:
ReplyDeleteSG: Oracle 6
Keef: Ranger 5
Dave: Sorcerer (Seeker) 5
Al: Summoner 6
Randy: Pregen 7
Kelly: Bbn 1/Sor 5
Randy can play his witch if he wants (otherwise she will not ever go up in levels). Kelly can also play one of his 4th level guys if he wants too.
DeleteIf they both play 4th does that put us at the lower tier?
ReplyDeleteNo. We would still play high sub-tier. In that case, the APL would be 5 ((4+4+6+6+5+5)/6). According to the Guide, for a season 2 scenario with 6 players, that means we would play up. We would need to have 3 fewer levels to qualify to play sub-tier 3-4. (Putting us at APL 4.5 and choosing to round down to 4.)
DeleteEh... If Randy plays his witch he'll die
DeleteThe choice is up to him. A pregen can give future credit to an existing character or he could start a new character with the credit.
DeleteThe other option is that we all play characters in the 3-4 range. We all have at least one.
That would be pretty cool by me and Randy. Annaky and Owonga like to hang out and sharpen their knives.
DeleteI can switch to my paladin or ranger/rouge if that would help
ReplyDeleteThat's not how that works, Al. We're talking the 3-4 tier. Your R/R is lvl 5
DeleteBut yeah, that would help.
So you are proposing:
DeleteKeith - cleric (3)
David - arcanist (4)
Kelly - rogue (4)
Alan - paladin (4)
Randy - skald (3)
Dave - barbarian (1)/cleric (1)/fighter(1),
That group would be APL 3.5 (round to 4) which would place them in sub-tier 3-4. There is a bit of flexibility if someone wants to play a higher level or a different guy.
That is what I propose
