A new Pathfinder playtest has started today. It has 3 alternate classes from the Ultimate Combat book due out in August. The classes include Gunslinger, Ninja and Samurai. These are alternate classes for two core classes and a base class. Gunslinger is an alternate fighter. Ninja is an alternate rogue. Samurai is an alternate cavalier. If you take levels in the original class you may not take levels in the alternate class and vice versa. I would note them as Fighter (Gunslinger), Rogue (Ninja) and Calvelier (Samurai). These seem very similar to archetypes but appear to be more comprehensive.

I have also added a link to the new content on my D&D/Pathfinder page: https://sites.google.com/site/zombiehomepage/Home/zombie-s-d-d-pathfinder-page
Sweet! You starting a new game then? You havent started a new game in FOREVER!
ReplyDeleteI was thinking if we had four players tonight we could try a magus, a gunslinger, a ninja and a samurai walk into a dungeon scenarios.
ReplyDeleteLOLZ
ReplyDeleteSo pissed I couldnt make it. The whole house has plague again.
At first glance, gunslinger is prohibitively expensive. If Im reading this right, it costs 11gp per shot:
ReplyDeleteBlack Powder: Black powder is the key explosive component within
a firearm, but in larger amounts it can be even more destructive. A
single dose of black powder is enough to power a single shot from
most one-handed and two-handed firearms. Cost: 10 gp per dose.
Firearm Bullet: A firearm bullet typically takes the form of
a small ball of lead or some other metal. A bullet that misses is
destroyed. Cost: 1 gp per bullet.
They are now legal for PFS games.

I am not so sure that is not reasonable. The chracter gets either two pistols or a musket and 50 shots free at chracater creation. That is approximately 2,000 gp of free gear. I hear what you are saying about it adding up but I cannot imagine that you are going to get off more than a handful of shots in a particular fight. Reloading without the feats (and sometimes with them) is a bit of a pain. I recall using pistols in your game as a good first strike weapon and then switching to blades for the remainder of the fight.
ReplyDeleteI did a little research.
A pistol shot costs 11 gp. (1d8 damage, ranged tough within 20ft, x4 damage on crit)
A musket shout costs 11 gp. (1d12 damage, ranged touch within 40ft, x4 damage on crit)
A flask of acid costs 10 gp. (1d6 acid damage, ranged touch)
A flask of alchemist fire cost 20 gp.(1d6 fire damage 1st and 2nd round, ranged touch)
Masterwork ammunition is 6 gp per shot.
+1 magic ammunition is 40 gp per shot plus the cost for masterwork.
Dude. Flask of acid? Alchemist fire? Nobody uses those unless theyre fighting swarms.
ReplyDelete20 arrows= 1gp
20 bullets=220 gp
That is insane. Why would anyone ever do this? God forbid you ever run an evil party with a gunslinger because I will kill that poor bastard and sell his gear. 2000gp of free gear at character creation, just to make your character work, and that doesnt sound broken to you? A class that CANT work without 2k to start??
